Amped A-MX Size & Age Guide
Choosing between the Amped A-MX 10 and A-MX 12? Start with the rider’s measurements, strength and experience.
The A-MX 10 has a 520mm seat, while the A-MX 12 has a 560mm seat. Both need a rider who can comfortably reach the controls and manage the bike’s weight.
Which A-MX size should you choose?
Consider the A-MX 10 first for a smaller rider. Its lower seat, lighter chassis and slower first mode are useful differences when moving up from a smaller electric bike.
Consider the A-MX 12 when the rider needs more room and can comfortably manage the taller, heavier bike. A speed setting can limit performance, but it cannot correct a bike that is too large.
Age helps start the conversation; it does not confirm fit. Check the manufacturer’s age and rider limits alongside your child’s measurements and experience. Avoid choosing a model purely because another child of the same age rides one.
Amped A-MX rider fit profiles

Amped A-MX 10
The model to assess first when a smaller rider is progressing onto a compact electric dirt bike. Check that its size and weight suit them now.

Amped A-MX 12
An option for a taller rider who needs additional room and has the control and strength to manage the larger machine.
Three checks to help assess suitability
Measure the rider
Record standing height and inside leg. These help compare the two models, but neither measurement confirms fit on its own.
Consider the weight
At approximately 26kg and 28.5kg, these bikes can be a substantial step up from a small balance bike. Think about supporting the bike at stops and manoeuvring it.
Check control and reach
The rider needs comfortable access to both brakes, a relaxed reach to the handlebars and the ability to use the throttle progressively.
Home measurements are a starting point. A physical fit check gives more information than comparing seat height with inside leg alone. If you are unsure, ask us before ordering.
Compare the measurements that matter
The A-MX 12 seat is 40mm higher and the bike weighs approximately 2.5kg more. Its wheelbase is also 20mm longer.
On mobile, swipe across the table to view both models.
| Measurement | A-MX 10 | A-MX 12 |
|---|---|---|
| Seat height | 520mm / 52cm | 560mm / 56cm |
| Wheel size | 10-inch front and rear | 12-inch front and rear |
| Approximate weight | 26kg | 28.5kg |
| Wheelbase | 860mm | 880mm |
| Dimensions: L × W × H | 1250 × 610 × 710mm | 1300 × 610 × 750mm |
| Lowest speed mode | Approximately 3.7mph | Approximately 6.2mph |
| Highest speed mode | Up to approximately 21.7mph | Up to approximately 27.9mph |
| Fit consideration | Lower seat and lighter chassis for a smaller rider | Additional room for a rider who can manage the larger bike |
Speeds are approximate and depend on conditions. Check the current product page and supplied instructions for model specifications and rider limits.
How to measure height and inside leg
Standing height
- Stand the rider against a wall without shoes.
- Keep their feet flat and have them look straight ahead.
- Mark the top of the head using a level book.
- Measure from the floor to the mark in centimetres.
Inside leg
- Have the rider stand without shoes, with feet slightly apart.
- Hold a book gently between the legs, level and snug.
- Measure vertically from the floor to the top of the book.
- Record the measurement in centimetres.
Do not use trouser size as an inside-leg measurement. Send the actual measurement, along with height and riding experience, when asking for sizing advice.
A 52cm seat does not mean a guaranteed 52cm inside-leg fit
Seat width, riding position, footwear and suspension compression all affect how easily the rider reaches the ground. The quoted seat height is a reference measurement, rather than a guaranteed minimum inside leg.
For a newer rider, look for reassuring ground contact and the ability to hold the bike steady during starts and stops. Reaching the ground on tiptoes while struggling with the bike’s weight is a reason to reassess the fit.
Experienced riders may use a different stopping technique, but that should not be assumed when choosing a child’s first bike of this type.
Signs each A-MX could be the better fit
Consider the A-MX 10 when...
- The lower 520mm seat gives better support at stops.
- The rider comfortably reaches the bars and brake levers.
- The lighter chassis is more manageable.
- The slower first mode is useful while adjusting to the bike.
- The riding position provides enough room without stretching.
Consider the A-MX 12 when...
- The rider needs more room than the smaller model provides.
- The 560mm seat height gives a comfortable stopping position.
- They can manage approximately 28.5kg confidently.
- They already have controlled throttle and braking skills.
- Its higher starting speed suits their current ability.
Moving up from a Revvi or smaller Amped?
Tell us the exact model your child rides now. A familiar reference helps us understand the change in size, weight and controls they will experience.
A confident rider still needs time to adjust to a different bike. Begin with the lowest mode and practise controlled starts, braking and turns in a clear, suitable area.
Riding modes do not change physical fit. Both A-MX models offer selectable modes and a Mode 1 lock function through the WUXING DZ40 display. Follow the supplied instructions when setting the bike up.
Choose a bike they can manage now
I would start by assessing the A-MX 10 for a smaller rider moving onto a compact electric dirt bike. The lower seat, lighter weight and slower first mode are useful advantages if they give the rider a better fit.
Move to the A-MX 12 when the rider needs the additional room and has the ability to manage it. Growing room is only helpful when the bike is already comfortable and controllable today.
Need help choosing the size?
Send us the following information so we can help narrow down the options:
- Rider’s age.
- Standing height in centimetres.
- Inside-leg measurement in centimetres.
- Current bike model, if they have one.
- Experience using a throttle and hand-operated brakes.
Measurements help us advise, but the rider’s actual reach, ground contact and ability to support the bike still need checking.
Amped A-MX size and age FAQs
What age is the Amped A-MX 10 suitable for?
Use the manufacturer’s recommended age and rider limits alongside a physical fit assessment. The A-MX 10 is the smaller model, with a 520mm seat and approximate weight of 26kg. Age alone does not confirm suitability.
What age is the Amped A-MX 12 suitable for?
The A-MX 12 needs a rider who fits its 560mm seat and can comfortably manage approximately 28.5kg. Check the manufacturer’s age and rider limits as well as the rider’s size and experience.
What rider height do you recommend?
Total height is useful, but it cannot confirm fit by itself. Inside leg, reach, strength and riding experience also matter. Send us those details rather than relying on a broad height band.
Should both feet be flat on the ground?
A newer rider benefits from secure, comfortable ground contact. The important checks are whether they can support the bike, reach the controls and stop confidently. Struggling to balance a heavy bike on tiptoes suggests the fit needs reassessing.
Is inside leg the same as seat height?
No. They are different measurements. Seat width, suspension compression, footwear and riding position affect ground reach, so matching the two figures does not guarantee that a bike fits.
Should I buy the A-MX 12 for growing room?
Only if it already fits and the rider can manage its weight and controls. Choosing a lower riding mode does not reduce the bike’s seat height or weight.
Can the speed be restricted?
Both models offer five selectable modes and a Mode 1 lock function through the WUXING DZ40 display. Follow the supplied instructions. Speed restriction supports learning but does not replace correct fit or supervision.
What protective equipment should the rider wear?
Use a correctly fitted helmet, gloves, sturdy riding boots, knee and elbow protection, and suitable riding clothing. Young riders need adult supervision and an appropriate riding area.
Where should an Amped A-MX be used?
These are off-road bikes for suitable private land with permission. Follow the supplied operating instructions and check that your intended riding location is suitable.
